Searching for Beautiful tour: Interview with Nyrae Dawn and Giveaway

Rockstar Book Tours: http://www.rockstarbooktours.com/

Before it happened…

Brynn had a group of best friends, a boyfriend who loved her, a growing talent for pottery. She had a life. And then…she had none.

After it happened…

Everything was lost. The boy she now knew never loved her. The friends who felt she betrayed their trust. The new life just beginning to grow inside her.

Brynn believes her future is as empty as her body until Christian, the boy next door, starts coming around. Playing his guitar and pushing her to create art once more. She meets some new friends at the local community center, plus even gets her dad to look her in the eye again…sort of. But letting someone in isn’t as easy as it seems.

Now…

Can Brynn open up her heart to truly find her life’s own beauty, when living for the after means letting go of the before?

Interview with Nyrae Dawn

Ali: What inspired you to write your first book?

Nyrae: I’m not sure it was one thing that inspired me. I always loved writing and I wanted to give people a happily ever after.

A: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

N: Beauty comes from the inside. That making mistakes doesn’t make you stupid, weak, or unlovable. We all make mistakes. It’s easy for people on the outside to judge but it’s different when you’re in the situation. Mistakes help you grow.

A: What books have most influenced your life most?

N: Again, I don’t know if there are books that have influenced my life. I’ve read beautiful, inspiring books that make me feel good, make me question things or look at the world differently. I’ve read books that make me want to be a better writer.

A: What book are you reading now?

N: I’m reading an adult romance right now. It’s the last book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.

A: Do you enjoy writing girl characters or boy characters the most?

N: I have to admit that I usually enjoy writing boy POV more.

A: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

N: He’s not a new author but he’s new to me. I recently read my first David Levithan book and I am in awe of him.

A: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

N: Wendy Higgins, my bestie.

A: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

N: I always enjoyed it. I won my first writing contest in third grade, I believe. That inspired me to keep going.

A: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

N: Just staying real to my characters, even if that means making them do something people may not agree with. I write flawed people because I believe we’re all flawed and we all make mistakes.

A: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

N: I’m a lover of beautiful language. I have favorite books—Sarah Ockler’s Twenty Boy Summer, Gayle Foreman’s Where She Went, Cath Crowley’s Graffiti Moon, Jenny Han’s Summer Series are all books with beautiful language that I love.

A: Where would you like to travel someday to do a book signing?

N: Ireland!

A: What was the hardest part of writing your book?

N: All of it? LOL. I’m kidding. SEARCHING FOR BEAUTIFUL was a hard book for me because it tackles a lot of tough issues.

A: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

N: That we all have insecurities.

A: Do you have any advice for other writers?

N: Keep writing. Don’t rush.

A: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

N: Thank you. I wouldn’t be here without you.

A: What books/authors have influenced your writing?

N: The authors and books I named above. Also some of my favorite boy POV authors, CK Kelly Martin, Mindi Scott, Nick Burd.

A: Do you ever experience writer's block?

N: Not really.

A: If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

N: Never Give Up

The Author:

Writing has always been Nyrae Dawn’s passion. There have been times in her life where she wasn’t able to chase that dream the way she desired, but she always found her way back to telling stories.

One of her loves has always been writing about teens. There’s something so fresh and fun about the age that she loves exploring. Her husband says it’s because she doesn’t want to grow up. She doesn’t think that’s such a bad thing and luckily for her, he doesn’t either.

Nyrae gravitates toward character-driven stories. She loves going on emotional journeys with characters whether it be reading or writing. And yes, she’s a total romantic at heart and proud.

Nyrae resides in sunny Southern California with her husband (who still makes her swoon) and her two awesome kids.

When she’s not with her family, you can be pretty sure you’ll find her with a book in her hand or her laptop and an open document in front of her.

She writes for Entangled Publishing, Grand Central Publishing and is self-published.

Nyrae is represented by Jane Dystel of Dystel and Goderich Literary Management.

Nyrae Dawn also writes adult romance under the name Kelley Vitollo.Website: http://www.nyraedawn.com/
