Stripped Tour: Review and Giveaway

“I like you.” His voice is low and soft, which I don’t deserve. I look away, down the rutted parking lot.
“Don’t... waste those words on me.”
He touches my cheek. “You just need someone to show you.”
“No.” I ease back again. “I don’t. So please, Torrin, stop trying to swoop in and save me. I don’t need saving.”

College freshman Quinn Montgomery will do anything to avoid the mistake her sister made—killing herself over a boy. But when she is forced into nude modeling at a local college to support her family after a bankruptcy, she begins to crack, just enough to let Torrin, the university’s top varsity oarsman, see that the real Quinn is not as feisty and unapproachable as she wants everyone to think. But letting someone in comes at a steep cost and, it turns out, Torrin is connected to Quinn’s family in more ways than she could ever imagine.

Review

“Stripped” by Brooklyn Skye is absolutely amazing. This story was entertaining and heartbreaking all at the same time. I absolutely loved it. Quinn is dealing with life in her own way after there was two terrible incidents right after one another that destroyed everything she knew. Quinn’s sister Zoe committed suicide by overdosing on pills and a few months later her dad quit his job because of a scandal that went on at the school.

Quinn believes her sister committed suicide because she fell in love and couldn’t handle things after Evan and she broke up. Taking the warning that Quinn believes her sister left for her, she swears off love and only dates boys that make her feel miserable. Then the unexpected happens in Quinn’s life.

Since Quinn’s father lost his job, her family can no longer pay for their bills including Quinn’s tuition at Loyola University. Quinn takes a nude modeling job at Pacific Rim University which is where her father used to be the Dean. As Quinn tries to keep her life together, she doesn’t let a whole lot of people in. She tries to be the tough girl when in reality she is falling apart inside.

I thought “Stripped” was an amazing story. I was hooked from the beginning and read the entire story within a couple hours. Quinn’s story is so heartbreaking however Quinn herself is entertaining. She is a girl after my own heart with each sarcastic remark she makes. Quinn has all of the assumptions about life and how her life became the disaster that it is, but as she learns to fall in love and to find out the truth of her sister’s death, Quinn’s life becomes shattered again but this time in a completely different way than before.

Quinn is such an excellent character, I felt like I got to know all about her, which is the way that characters should be written. Quinn wasn’t some mystery girl in the story; I was able to know every gritty detail in her life. I think Quinn learns that trying to be the tough girl and acting like nothing matters isn’t always the way to go. Love can change your life for the good or for the bad, but in this case love changed Quinn’s life for the better. I am going to warn you readers, the story may break your heart, but it is definitely worth reading. Amazing job Brooklyn Skye, amazing job.

I give "Stripped" five out of five bookshelves.
